BEYOND TOMORROW (Research Wing)
With time, it has become increasingly clear that the need of the hour is extensive research in the field of disability. Beyond Tomorrow – The Research Wing of the Department was established in 2002. Paper presentations, publications, and undertaking major and minor research projects have been the hallmark of Beyond Tomorrow.
CONFERENCES / WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARS
Workshops and seminars form an integral part of our curriculum. Eminent professionals from various fields serve as resource persons. Staff and students stay updated with new trends, developments, and emerging issues in the education and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities (PwDs). They also present papers at State, National, and International conferences.
VILLAGE CAMPS
Students participate in community camps focused on creating public awareness and offering essential services like health education, identification, and rehabilitation for the differently abled through engaging activities such as skits and street plays.
EARN WHILE YOU LEARN PROGRAM
Initiated in 2001, this program offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience while earning an income, assisting parents and supporting children with special needs through home-based services.
REHAB ASSOCIATION
This association organizes special lectures, symposiums, and competitions, providing students with opportunities to enhance academic interests and develop extracurricular skills through diverse activities.
REHAB WINGS
A voluntary student forum since 1997, Rehab Wings engages students in community-based services like screening, assessment, home training, and parental counseling, emphasizing holistic support for individuals with disabilities.
JOB PLACEMENT CELL
This dedicated cell consistently places students in prestigious roles both in India and internationally, including special educators, counselors, and rehabilitation specialists, with strong networking across sectors.
ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
Through annual meetups like “Santhipoma” and online groups, alumni from over 14 countries stay connected, sharing innovations and supporting disability services globally, with a focus on professional growth.
BLOSSOMS OPPORTUNITY SCHOOL
Established in 1997, this model school serves children with multiple disabilities like Autism, ADHD, and Down Syndrome, providing individualized training, vocational planning, and community rehabilitation.
RAINBOW THERAPEUTIC UNIT
Started in 2008, this unit offers comprehensive therapeutic services, including early intervention, speech therapy, and physiotherapy for children and young adults with intellectual disabilities, ensuring holistic care.
ECHO – NEWSLETTER
The annual "Echo" newsletter highlights the institute’s achievements, outreach efforts, and future initiatives, serving as a platform for celebrating growth and impact in rehabilitation services.
EDU-TECH LAB
Supported by UGC under HEPSN, this lab provides services like reader assistance, scribe support, and braille literature, empowering students with disabilities to access higher education resources.
FIELD VISITS & EDUCATIONAL TOURS
These visits allow students to explore different methodologies in special education and rehabilitation, offering firsthand experience in professional settings that work with persons with disabilities.
SUMMER PLACEMENT
All undergraduate students undergo summer placements in specialized institutions, gaining exposure and practical skills in handling children with special needs within community and institutional contexts.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAMME (ISEP)
Since 2014, ISEP provides international exposure through placements in prestigious institutions like Al-Noor Training Centre in Dubai, fostering cross-cultural learning in special education and rehabilitation.
BUDDY CLUB
This peer support program connects college students with children with special needs, fostering socialization and improving quality of life through home-based assistance.
BE THE CHANGE – PROJECT VOLUNTEERING
Volunteers from the general public assist in programs like Holy Cross Blossoms Opportunity School and Rainbow Early Intervention Programme, offering essential services to children with special needs.
SANGAMAM – REHAB FINE ARTS CLUB
Initiated in 2024, Sangamam encourages students to express artistic talents through cultural and fine arts activities, promoting creativity and inclusivity among all students.
HELEN KELLER CLUB
Established in 2024, this club supports students with disabilities by providing academic services like scribe assistance, reader support, and creation of talking books and e-books for enhanced learning.
GRAHAM BELL HEARABILITY CLUB
This club serves the hearing-impaired community by offering support, ensuring communication accessibility, and promoting well-being through hearing-related initiatives.
WE CAN – SPORTS CLUB
The WE CAN Sports Club promotes physical fitness and camaraderie through sports, fostering teamwork, resilience, and personal growth among students of all backgrounds.
PARENT TO PARENT COUNSELLING (PTP)
Experienced mentor parents provide counseling and guidance to new parents of children with disabilities. A database of trained mentor parents is maintained for mutual support. Volunteers receive 5 hours of training and are monitored through Wings Volunteers.

DIAGNOSTIC AND ASSESSMENT CENTRE (PRISM)
Incepted in 1999, this unit, led by a trained psychologist, plays a crucial role in early identification of developmental delays and planning interventions.
