Women's Studies Centre (Funded by UGC)

Women’s Studies Centre, Holy Cross College, was established on 20th December 2010 under the XI plan of the University Grants Commission. The Centre focuses on empowering women and addressing challenges faced by women and girl children in patriarchal society. It emphasizes teaching, training, research, advocacy, networking, and collaboration with various organizations.

• Knowledge Creation: Researching socio-economic, cultural, and political factors affecting women.
• Capacity Building: Conducting workshops and training to foster women’s leadership.
• Policy Advocacy: Advocating sustainable development through campaigns and policy changes.
• Networking: Collaborating with governmental and non-governmental organizations for empowerment initiatives.

• Gender Studies: Offered to all II UG students.
• Certificate Course in Gender and Development: A life-oriented course focusing on gender equality, health, and work.
• Certificate Course in Women and Law: Educates students on women-specific laws and legal procedures.
• Women in Sustainable Agri-Entrepreneurship: Empowers students with knowledge on sustainable agricultural practices and women’s entrepreneurial roles.

• National Conferences: Organized UGC and ICSSR-sponsored conferences.
• Legal Aid Clinic: Providing legal support and awareness to beneficiaries in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority.
• Gender Champion Club: Promoting gender equity through various activities and programs.
• National Nutrition Week: Awareness campaigns and competitions on nutrition.
