Knowledge Repository System
To enhance the teaching-learning process through technology, Holy Cross College initiated the development of a knowledge repository system in the form of D-space lessons during the academic year 2006-2007. Since 2007, staff members have been trained to develop E-content lessons for classroom teaching.
Smart Board Teaching
Smart class is a digital initiative aimed at transforming the teaching-learning process. In the year 2014-15, 13 smart boards (Interactive white boards) were installed across various departments to enhance interactivity in classrooms. These smart boards facilitated student assignments, seminars, PowerPoint presentations, and internet access as part of an ICT-enabled teaching-learning process.
Centre for E-Content Development
Realizing the significance of information and communication technology (ICT) in education, the Government of India initiated the establishment of the Centre for E-Content Development on 24th November 2017. The centre was inaugurated by Dr. S. Senthilnathan, UGC, HRDC, BDU, Tiruchirappalli, and supported by Rev. Sr. Dr. Christina Bridget, Principal, and Rev. Sr. Dr. Lilly, Secretary of Holy Cross College. The centre aims to promote ICT-based teaching-learning practices and enhance the campus environment into an i-campus (Intelligent campus).
Aim and Objectives of the Centre
- To motivate and facilitate staff members in developing E-contents through training sessions and workshops.
- To encourage annual development of E-contents by staff members, enhancing learning experiences for students.
- To promote Edu tech scenarios by encouraging academic contributions through a Staff Blog ID.
- To increase the use of Smart boards for interactive and effective teaching.

MoU Signing
- Holy Cross College signed an MoU on 21st December 2017 with Mac Tech Engineering, Bangalore, to provide technical support for the design of the e-content modules.
Modality
- All newly recruited teachers are oriented towards the preparation of E-contents/Video lessons in their field of expertise.
- A schedule for E-content/video lesson shooting is prepared and conducted as per the stipulated schedule.
- The footage of e-materials is collected by individual faculty from the Centre of E-content Development.
- The core member of each department forms a “Subject Expert Committee” to evaluate the e-contents/video lessons.
- The scrutiny team evaluates the e-materials based on content standard, language, and teaching technique and issues the “Certificate of Audit”.
- Only recommended e-materials are published on the Holy Cross Website for open learning.
A Vision for the Future
- By 2023, staff will be able to increase MHRD-funded e-materials.
- By 2025, 60% of teaching and learning will be digital.
- By 2027, Holy Cross College will be an i-campus.
