Continuous Internal Assessment (CIA)

Assessment components, evaluation methodology and minimum requirements

Continuous Internal Assessment (CIA)

CIA comprises the following components: Tests, Quizzes and Seminar-cum-Assignments, which are conducted as per the academic schedule to evaluate students continuously throughout the semester.

Internal Tests

The average of two internal tests will be considered for CIA evaluation. Please note the following important conditions:

Important: No retest will be conducted. If a candidate is absent for both tests, she/he will not be eligible to appear for the External Examination, even if internal marks have been secured through the other components of CIA.

Quiz

The average of two quizzes will be considered for CIA. One of the quizzes will be conducted in online mode, encouraging digital literacy and adaptive learning among students.

Seminar-cum-Assignment

Students are required to prepare a field-based assignment report focusing on application-level learning. The content of the report must be presented as a seminar using innovative methods, demonstrating practical insights and contextual understanding.

The seminar will be graded using Seminar Ranking Sheets, ensuring transparent and structured evaluation criteria.

CIA Marks Distribution

The Continuous Internal Assessment is evaluated for a total of 25 marks, distributed across the following components:

Component Description Marks
Internal Tests Average of two internal tests 10
Quiz Average of two quizzes (one online) 5
Seminar-cum-Assignment Field-based report & presentation 5
Attendance Based on class attendance percentage 5
Total CIA Marks 25

Minimum Marks Requirement

10/25 Minimum CIA Marks

A candidate must secure a minimum of 10 out of 25 marks in the CIA to be eligible to appear for the External Examination. Falling below this threshold will disqualify the student from the semester-end examination.
