Counseling Centre at Holy Cross College

Holy Cross College, Counseling Centre started in the academic year 2000-2001. It functions from 9am to 4pm on working days. Two Counselors, the counseling psychologist and psychotherapist were appointed for the welfare of the students. Students of SHIFT I & II come for counseling outside their class hours.

Objectives of Counseling

  • To provide services to the students with academic issues and behavioral problems and vocational choices.
  • To help the students work out a plan for solving their difficulties.
  • To enable the students to know one’s interests, capabilities, aptitudes, and opportunities in order to have healthy personal growth.

Types of Counseling

  • Individual Counseling
  • Group Counseling

Types of Problems Addressed

Students with Educational Problems:

  • Career counseling for vocational choices.
  • Personal counseling for issues like poor academic performance, lack of concentration, etc.
  • Support for solving or facing problems such as friendship issues, peer group influences, decision-making difficulties, and personality problems.

Students with Behavioral Problems:

  • Counseling for mild behavioral issues like mood swings, depression, anxiety disorders, etc.
  • Referral of severe cases to a Psychiatrist when needed.

Services Provided by Counseling Centre

  • Giving orientation sessions to students.
  • Professional Counseling services.
  • Acting as Resource persons for on-campus and off-campus counseling-related programs.
  • Regular meetings with Peer Group Counseling members.
  • Organizing awareness programs like “Know Yourself” for students.
