Counseling Centre at Holy Cross College
Holy Cross College, Counseling Centre started in the academic year 2000-2001. It functions from 9am to 4pm on working days. Two Counselors, the counseling psychologist and psychotherapist were appointed for the welfare of the students. Students of SHIFT I & II come for counseling outside their class hours.
Objectives of Counseling
- To provide services to the students with academic issues and behavioral problems and vocational choices.
- To help the students work out a plan for solving their difficulties.
- To enable the students to know one’s interests, capabilities, aptitudes, and opportunities in order to have healthy personal growth.

Types of Problems Addressed
Students with Educational Problems:
- Career counseling for vocational choices.
- Personal counseling for issues like poor academic performance, lack of concentration, etc.
- Support for solving or facing problems such as friendship issues, peer group influences, decision-making difficulties, and personality problems.
Students with Behavioral Problems:
- Counseling for mild behavioral issues like mood swings, depression, anxiety disorders, etc.
- Referral of severe cases to a Psychiatrist when needed.
Services Provided by Counseling Centre
- Giving orientation sessions to students.
- Professional Counseling services.
- Acting as Resource persons for on-campus and off-campus counseling-related programs.
- Regular meetings with Peer Group Counseling members.
- Organizing awareness programs like “Know Yourself” for students.
