HCCThe NAAC peer team visit for onsite assessment for IV cycle of Accreditation was held on 11th & 12th February 2020. Holy Cross College received A++ Grade with 3.75/4.

History

Psychology is considered as one of the much-needed course for every individual. It is an emerging field which has its own unique features and is application oriented. The Department of Psychology was established in the year 2017 and Prof. Dr. Sr. Catherine S., M.A., M.Sc., M.Phil., M.Ed., Ph. D was the founder and Head. Later the department was headed by Prof. Dr. Vijay. M., M.A., NET., Ph. D followed by Dr Arul Subila, M.A., M.Sc., NET., M.Phil., Ph. D, with a team of qualified, dedicated and vibrant faculty along with an excellent infrastructure that leads to an enriching teaching learning experience for both the students as well as the professors. Currently the department is headed by Sr. Bridget., M.Sc., PGDGC., PGDMCV., (Ph. D) along with other subject experts Dr. S. Suganya., M.Sc., M.Phil., Ph. D, Miss Raashmikha, M.Sc., M.Phil., Mr Laly Chrower, M.Sc., NET, Mrs Soundarya, M.Sc., PGDY, (Ph.D), Miss Raslin Shifana, M.Sc., The Department offers B. Sc. and M. Sc. Programmes. The programmes have strong theoretical roots and contemporary practice that enables the students to diagnose the clients with a scientific perspective at the same time employ therapeutic techniques and counselling skills with appropriate ethical consideration. The students are moulded in a way that helps them to analyse and evolve themselves in a positive way to change their perspective towards their fellow beings so that they look at their clients empathetically and sympathetically. The faculty encourage students to participate in trainings, seminars, conferences, workshops, field based studies, internship, case discussions, case analysis and film-based discussions and interactions with field experts. The students are provided with opportunities for field practicum, internships, case works, institutional visits and supervised skill training in each domain viz., Psychiatric Hospitals, NGO, De-addiction Centres, Special schools, Student counselling and Vocational guidance, family counselling and workplace counselling.
