History
The PG Department of Data Science, Holy Cross College (Autonomous), Tiruchirappalli was started in the academic year 2021–2022. An interdisciplinary programme spanning a period of two years, it integrates contributions from Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Mathematics and Statistics to study and evaluate data. The Department aims at making young minds proficient in the rapidly emerging field of Data Science and strengthening their career prospects by inculcating in-depth expertise in it.
Data Science tends to lean more on Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing and Big Data, preparing students to analyse complex datasets and derive meaningful insights for decision-making across academic, industrial and societal domains.

Aim
The aim of the Data Science Department is to give students the knowledge and abilities to evaluate data and extract insights for making decisions. It emphasizes using data-driven techniques to solve real-world issues while encouraging ethical data use, research, and innovation. Graduates are equipped for jobs in Data Science across a variety of sectors.
